In alcune interpretazioni, beni e benefici sono trattati come sinonimi. Nel sistema CICES i beni e i benefici sono definiti come " ciò che le persone creano o derivano dai servizi ecosistemici finali (vedi ES finali). Questi output finali degli ecosistemi sono stati trasformati in prodotti o esperienze che non sono più collegati funzionalmente ai sistemi da cui sono stati derivati. Beni e benefici possono essere indicati collettivamente come "prodotti" (Haines-Young & Potschin 2013, p. 9)((Haines-Young, R. & Potschin, M.
