Through their large stretches of undissected and sparseley populated areas , the Alps are particularly capable of main-taining and restoring ecosystem services  maintenance and development of an EU backbone of green infrastructures underlines the responsibility of the Alpine Space for main-taining and restoring ecosystem services (in view of the EU commitment at the 10th CBD-COP in Nagoya and the EU bio-diversity strategy’s objective to restore 15% of degraded ecosystems)
