“Regional environmental governance” is a concept in [[:wiki:political_ecology|political ecology]] and environmental policy that advocates sustainable regional development as the supreme consideration for managing all human activities (Balsiger & Debarbieux 2011, Brandes & Brooks 2005) ((Balsiger, J. & Debarbieux, B. It refers to the processes of decision-making involved in the management of the environment and natural resources (e.g. interference through projects, development plans).
