([[wiki:comunis|COMUNIS]], [[wiki:econnect|Econnect]])

[[wiki:comunis|COMUNIS]] recommends carrying out an environmental assessment when a commercial location is planned. Part of this planning (and later assessment) should also be preserving the corridors as linking elements of an Alpine ecological network (for safeguarding the high [[wiki:biodiversity|biodiversity]] of the Alps). [[wiki:econnect|Econnect]] has developed the [[http://www.alpine-space.eu/fileadmin/media/Running_Projects/Econnect/Econnect_-_Results/ECONNECT_Final_Booklet_EN.pdf|JECAMI]] tool that can be used to identify areas important for the maintenance of ecological connectivity. These areas should be considered during an environmental assessment in order to enrich the basis for a decision. Further synergies from the COMUNIS project could be achieved extending pilot areas to neighbor regions with economic potential for commercial localization on the base of the tools developed by the project including the stronger focus of ecological connectivity treated in the Econnect project.
