A person or group of persons which maintain or improve their well-being (see human well-being) through the provision of ecosystem services (e.g. the visitors of the Alps enjoying the landscape; citizens using drinking water from the Alps). They are the direct recipients of the benefits (see benefits) created through ecosystem services.
