Institute for Interdisciplinary Mountain Research (IGF)

The Institute for Interdisciplinary Mountain Research (IGF) at its headquarters in Innsbruck focuses on inter- and transdisciplinary mountain research in cooperation with international groups of scientists. It also includes GLORIA, the long-term global monitoring network in alpine areas. It maintains a cooperation with the Mountain Research Initiative (MRI), Berne/Switzerland, and is member of the Mountain Partnership (FAO), Rome. For Austria the IGF is administrating the Swiss-Austrian mountain research alliance (CH-AT). Together with the Research Focus Alpine Space: Man & Environment of the Innsbruck University http://www.uibk.ac.at/alpinerraum/index.html.en and the alpS Centre for Climate Change Adaptation Technologies it forms the Innsbruck Mountain Competence.
