Demochange: Roadmaps for spatial planning and regional development

Target groups
policy maker; civil servants / administration; Planner;

Area of application
Demographic types of NUTS3-regions were identified via cluster analysis for the whole Alpine Space;

Time frame
The roadmaps were compiled during project runtime, they represent the state of the art. During work the regional development and spatial planning documents of the last years were scanned for demography-related objectives and measures (documents from EU, Alpine Convention, alpine states on different administrative levels from district/canton to national documents); Data for cluster analysis were 2005 to 2010

Keywords
demographic change, demographic types

Accessibility
open access to roadmap report in pdf-format;

Transferability and re-usability
The roadmap report is meant as a guideline applicaple for all alpine regions. But it is partially rather scientific and maybe more suitable for ambitious civil servants / administrations and regions with a certain experience in public participation and governance processes. Less experienced regional stakeholders probably need experts / planners help to apply the guidelines. The recommendations are transferable and re-usable for all regions with demographic change. The roadmap is available in english, probably a translation in national languages would ease the application in more alpine regions

Sector policies adressed
spatial planning and regional development, public services, labor market, healthcare, welfare, social inclusion, migration, tourism, agriculture, transportation, healthcare, housing, education
