The purpose and main objective of the AlpES project terms are:

• to collect basic and advanced definitions that are frequently used within the AlpES project and which are relevant for understanding of ecosystem services
• to provide a helping tool for stakeholder, observers and other target groups which are interested in the use of ecosystem services or have been involved in the AlpES project
• to establish a common reference basis for understanding of specific terms between the AlpES project partners as well as in the communication towards stakeholders.
