How to add my project in the wiki

If you are an experienced wiki author, you can directly access a template for the project description here. If you are less experienced, please read the following explanations.

Feeding the wiki with new articles is very simple. In a few minutes you can give your project and its results more visibility and establish links with other projects, initiatives and relevant national documents. The following lines will explain step-by-step how to insert a project in the Best practice section. You can simply copy and paste the different strings of coding and updating the fields with your own project's information as explained below. When copying please remember to include and not delete the coding so that the information will be visualised in the wiki complying with the same structure of the already existing projects.

Step 1: Quick information about the project

First of all you have to insert the project's acronym, for example WIKIAlps, as title of the page as reported below. Please remember to keep the two asterisks before and after the project's acronym and update only the required fields.

The acronym of the project is always followed by the project's title, for example “WIKIAlps - A wiki for capitalising on spatial development projects” or “Econnect - Improving ecologial connectivity in the Alps”. You can add the title of your project as indicated below:

To complete the step 1 on project's information the following fields have to be filled in:

The Alpine Space priority area is indicated in the application form of each Alpine Space project. There are three priority areas, namely 1) Competitiveness and Attractiveness, 2) Accessibility and Connectivity and 3) Environment and Risk Prevention. Also at this stage, it is easier to copy the coding from another project and update only the necessary field, so that the text will be visualised correctly.

The next information to insert is the length of the project. Finally the two remaining fields contain the website, namely the link to the project homepage and to the alpine space web site. The first address links to the project homepage while the other links to the project's page in the alpine space programme website. The coding for inserting these information is also provided in the example.

Step 2: Project partners

The next step is to insert the list of project partners in the wiki. First of all the title of the section “Project partners” has to be created:

The remaining information of this step include the name and website of the institution, the national acronym for the institution's headquarter, and the whole contact detail, namely name and surname of the contact person, telephone number, and email.

Step 3: Project summary

The coding to insert titles in the wiki is the following:

To visualize titles correctly insert “==” before and after the title's name. After having inserted the title you can insert your project description as free text.

Step 4: Hypotheses, keywords and topics

To create titles for this section can be used the same coding as explained in step 3. In the case of hypotheses, keywords and topics we would have:

The coding to insert these information is within brackets “...”: this enables to link to the related page containing a detailed description of hypotheses, keywords and topics. This section will also contain a list of those project which share the same hypothesis, keywords and topics.

The following is a draft template which can be copied and used for replacing all the existing details with your own project details. You can start editing this template with the information on your specific project clicking on “Edit this page” on the right side and copying the following template in your project's page in the wiki.

Results of a project can be differentiated in outputs, outcomes and impacts of an intervention.OECD Glossary of Key Terms in Evaluation and Results Based Management. Project outputs can generally be identified very easily. Yet, they represent only a first step towards the ultimate objective of project interventions: Initiating project-related outcomes and having true impacts on the ground.


Outputs are an immediate deliverable of a project, which result from a development intervention. They should be finalised and publicly available by the time the project terminates. Outputs comprise tangible project results such as tools, databases, executive summaries, educational material etc.

Outcomes and Impacts

Outcomes are the likely or achieved short-term and medium-term effects of an intervention's outputs, e.g. the outcome of improved, knowledged-based decision-making processes as an effect of a knowledge database (= output) established by a project. Outcomes will in most cases not materialise before project closure.
Impacts are positive and negative, primary and secondary long-term effects produced by a development intervention, directly or indirectly, intended or unintended.OECD Glossary of Key Terms in Evaluation and Results Based Management
As outcomes and impacts are difficult to differentiate, this section contains both of these types of project results.
The identification of outcomes and impacts requires a deeper insight into the respective project e.g. through project participants or direct interviews with project representatives. Outcomes and impacts are usually not solely influenced by projects, but are a complex combination of project results on the one hand and framework conditions on the other. Unlike project outputs, outcomes and results cannot be described in a standardised way. Therefore, they are listed as free text:
