Alpine ecosystem services are ecosystem services which are considered particularly relevant for the Alpine area. There is no final or official selection of “Alpine ecosystem services”, however several studies exist which proposed ES which are relevant for the Alps such as the recharge Green project or the greenAlps project (Balest et al. 2015; Svadlenek-Gomez et al. 2015) ^{1) 2)} . A typical example is the regulating ecosystem service “Buffering and attenuation of mass movements” in the form of avalanche and mudslide protection.
