Capability of Ecosystem
The capability of an ecosystem or its capability to provide ecosystem services is it’s “ability to sustainably generate one ecosystem service under current condition and type of use, and irrespective of potential impacts of increasing supply on the supply of other ecosystem services.” (Hein et al. 2016, p. 5)1). Other as capacity (capacity of ecosystem services), capability means the level of ecosystem service provision which is still low or at sustainable level for the ecosystem service itself, but it may already have impacts on other ecosystem services.
