Formal instruments
Formal instruments are instruments which release concrete actions and binding results. They are required through legislative decisions, treaties, preconditions and laws. Within environmental or territorial management examples are formal urban plans, environmental impact assessments (EIA) or nature conservation compensations schemes.
In the AlpES project both formal and informal instruments are taken into consideration for the operationalization of the ES concept.
