Demochange: DEMOGRAPHIC CHANGE IN THE ALPINE SPACE - short regional reports

Target groups
Policy maker; civil servants / administration; Planner; Scientists; Specific institutions

Area of application
10 pilot regions in DE, AT, IT, CH: Allgäu, Germany; District of Garmisch-Partenkirchen, Germany; Pinzgau – Pongau – Lungau, Austria; Aosta Valley Region, Italy; Langa Astigiana, Italy; South Tyrol, Italy; Upper Gorenjska, Slovenia; Škofja Loka Hills, Slovenia; Nidwalden, Switzerland; Seetal, Switzerland

Time frame
Quantitative data regarding demographic and spatial development trends (economy, housing etc.) of the last 20-30 years and prognosis of future demographic development are the base of the analysis;

Keywords
demographic change, data analysis

Accessibility
The report is accessible, but the data are only available as pdf in tables for each pilot region. The report names data from the sectors:

  1. Territorial organisation, geographical situation, natural conditions and housing
  2. Demography including demographic projections
  3. Economy
  4. Tourism
  5. Agriculture
  6. Public services;

Some data are not available in the tables, but only included in the texts of the short reports of the pilot regions. The metadata documentation “WP4 - List of indicators & Guidelines for data collection” is not available; there is no explanation how problems with inconsitence of the transnational data were solved. Each regional report is available as a separate document.

Transferability and re-usability
The data of the regions could be re-used after transfering them from pdf-format to a format usable for data analysis; to transfer the method is not exactly possible without the metadata and a description how to cope data inconsistence.

Sector policies adressed
spatial planning and regional development, public services, labor market, healthcare, welfare, social inclusion, migration, tourism, agriculture, transportation, healthcare, housing, education
