Several projects deal with reducing environmental damage caused by intensive human activity and with natural hazard risk prevention. In some cases recommendations for natural disaster prevention are transferable from one type of natural hazard to another or can merged into common alpine strategy for resilience to natural hazards. Projects provide new knowledge regarding:

- Enhancing and protecting natural resources and natural heritage

• safe and sustainable development of energy resources (ALP FFIRS, SHARE);
• developing mechanisms to improve access to information and knowledge (ALP FFIRS, Econnect, PermaNET);
• encourage use of renewable energies and sustainable water management (SHARE);
• improving the ecological connectivity (Econnect);

- Reducing environmental damage all projects

• limitation of natural disaster impacts (ALP FFIRS);
• reducing climate change impact (ALP FFIRS, Econnect);
• increased migration of fauna and flora (Econnect, SHARE);

- Environmental policies

• preparing suitable environmental policies to reduce human impact on ecosystems (all projects).
