Project Partners

Project summary

Sectorial policies are inefficient to offset the relation among urban and rural areas and their development model due to the complexity to merge in an organic whole a lot of solutions which have been carried out to tackle the critical situation in terms of loss of competitiveness, landscape degradation, lack of water and soil quality, loss of biodiversity, territorial fragmentation and abandonment, intense use of the resources, quality of life decay. A balanced development can not be achieved with sectorial interventions but only by crossing the segmentation of the territorial policies. Therefore, Rurbance is developing cooperative and integrated governance models towards the implementaion of Joint Development Strategies that induce territorial requalification processes in order to hand back value to the economic, social, environmental and cultural heritage that constitutes the identity of the territories from the top to the bottom. As a result, rural/mountain and urban communities become “equal players” in an inclusive decision making process. Source: RURBANCE project summary
