Andrea Fischer
Andrea Fischer (* 3. September 1973) in St. Johann, Tyrol, is an Austrian glaciologist. She works as a Senior Researcher at the Institute for Interdisciplinary Mounntain Research (IGF) of the Austrian Academy of Sciences at Innsbruck and is respnsible for the glacier monitoring of the Austrian Alpine Club (Oesterreichischer Alpenverein).
Career
1991-1999 she studied Physics and Environmental Science at the University of Graz and got her PhD at the Institute for Metereology and Geophysics of the University of Innsbruck in 2003 with her work on 'Icedynamics of Vatnajökull investigated by means of ERS-SAR interferometry'. In 2011 she got her habilitation degree and has been appointed at IGF since 2010.
Andrea Fischer is one of the leading glaciologists of Austria and has been elected as the Austrian of the Year 2013 in the field of research. Her research is orientated to long term data bases, and her data is peer reviewed by the Alfred-Wegener-Institute and published in the Pangäa data base.
